New Delhi : India Alliance today protested against the manipulation of voter lists in the Lok Sabha elections and Maharashtra, Karnataka and Haryana assembly elections. Opposition parties wanted to submit a memorandum to the Election Commission but the police did not allow them to reach the Commission. Although the Commission had given time to 30 opposition MPs to meet today, more than two hundred opposition MPs and workers wanted to reach the Election House while protesting, but the police arrested them.

Leader of Opposition in Lok Sabha Rahul Gandhi, Leader of Opposition in Rajya Sabha Mallikarjun Kharge, SP leader Akhilesh Yadav, AAP MP Sanjay Singh, TMC, Leftists, DMK, Aam Aadmi Party, Sharad Pawar from NCP, Supriya Sule, Sanjay Raut from Shiv Sena Uddhav faction and leaders of India Alliance marched on foot from Parliament to the Election Commission and protested. No officer from the Election Commission came to meet the opposition MPs. All the MPs and party workers were arrested and taken to Sansad Marg police station and later released.

On this occasion, Leader of Opposition in Lok Sabha Rahul Gandhi said that look at the condition of democracy in India. He said that 300 MPs want to meet the Election Commission, but the Election Commission says – you cannot come to meet. Because the Election Commission is afraid of the truth. Now this is not a political fight, this is a fight to save the soul of the country. It is a fight to save the Constitution. According to the Constitution, one person has the right to one vote. We have clearly shown that now there is no concept of ‘one person-one vote’.

Rahul Gandhi said that the youth of the country have come to know this truth. Now it is difficult for the Election Commission to hide. This is the data of the Election Commission. This is not my data, for which I will sign an affidavit. The Election Commission should pick up the data and put it on its website, then it will know itself.

He said that all this is just to divert attention from the issue. This has not happened only in Bengaluru, but has also happened in many Constituencies. The Election Commission knows that the data they are trying to hide will be exposed.
