Gurugram : The Election Commission of India has introduced a new standard operating procedure to ensure faster delivery of Electors Photo Identity Card (EPIC) to voters. Under this new process, voters will receive their EPIC within 15 days of any update in the electoral roll. This includes enrollment of a new voter or change in any details of an existing voter.

Giving this information, DC and District Election Officer Ajay Kumar said that this initiative is in line with various measures being taken by the Election Commission for the convenience of voters.

The new system will ensure real-time tracking of each stage from generation of EPIC to delivery of EPIC by the Electoral Registration Officer to the voter through the postal department.

He informed that voters will also receive notifications through SMS at each stage, so that they will be kept informed about the status of their EPIC.

He informed that for this purpose the Commission has introduced a dedicated IT module on its recently launched ECNET platform. This new IT platform will transform the existing process by re-engineering the current system and streamlining the workflow. It will be integrated with the Application Programme Interface (API) of DoP for seamless delivery. This initiative aims to enhance service delivery while maintaining data security.

Providing prompt and efficient electoral services to all its voters is a key focus area for the Election Commission of India.
