This campaign, which started from June 1 in accordance with the guidelines of Urban Local Bodies Department Haryana, will run till June 21, in which various cleanliness activities are being organized every day.

Monday was the 16th day of the campaign, which was dedicated to the health of sanitation workers. On this occasion, masks and gloves were distributed to the sanitation workers so that they can discharge their responsibilities while protecting themselves from dust and dirt. Under the campaign, activities like regular garbage collection at the ward level, cleaning of public places, cleaning of drains and cleanliness awareness are being continuously organized by the sanitation teams. The general public is also being motivated to participate in this campaign and maintain cleanliness around them.

Municipal Corporation Gurugram Commissioner Pradeep Dahiya said that sanitation workers are the backbone of keeping our city clean. Their health is our priority and hence necessary protective equipment is being provided to them during the campaign.

It is noteworthy that this Swachhta Pakhwada being run in compliance with the guidelines issued by the Urban Local Bodies Department is definitely a commendable initiative, which is not only effective in keeping the city clean, but also reflects a serious thinking towards the health and respect of sanitation workers. Distributing masks and gloves is not just a symbolic step, it is a message that the society will have to be sensitive towards those people who pick up the dirt of the society.

Although this campaign is being run on the initiative of the government and local bodies, its real success is possible only when citizens also play their role honestly. Cleanliness is not only the responsibility of sanitation workers, it is the responsibility of every person who lives in the society. Small steps like not littering the streets, keeping public places clean, dumping garbage at the right place and planting trees can bring about a big change. Citizen participation is extremely important to keep fast-growing cities like Gurugram clean and beautiful.
