– The campaign will run till July 31

Gurugram : Civil Surgeon Dr. Alka Singh on Monday launched the district level diarrhea free campaign from the polyclinic located in Sector-31. Under the guidance of DC Ajay Kumar, this campaign will be run across the district till July 31, 2025, the main objective of which is to bring the infant mortality rate due to diarrhea to zero. Under the campaign, the use of ORS and Zinc will be encouraged in children below the age of five and emphasis will be laid on developing appropriate behavior regarding prevention and management of diarrhea among caregivers. Special focus will be on slums and vulnerable communities.
The Civil Surgeon said that under the campaign, ORS and Zinc will be distributed door-to-door and ORS-Zinc corners will be set up at Anganwadi centers. Health department staff in collaboration with other departments such as Women and Child Development, Panchayati Raj, Jal Jeevan Mission, Rural and Urban Development etc. will provide information related to diarrhea to the people through inter-personal dialogue. Demonstration of hand washing will also be ensured in schools, Anganwadis and community meetings. ORS Zinc corners will also be set up for the treatment of diarrhea at the health facility level, and all health workers will be trained as per the standard treatment protocol of diarrhea.
Deputy Civil Surgeon Dr. Jaiprakash said that this campaign is being run mainly keeping in mind children below five years of age and their caregivers, where diarrhea outbreaks have been seen in the last two years. Dr. Jaiprakash called upon all the departments to make this campaign successful with mutual coordination and appealed to the general public to use ORS and Zinc on time to protect children from diarrhea.
