-Padma Vibhushan, Padma Bhushan and Padma Shri will be announced on Republic Day
Gurugram : DC Ajay Kumar said that applications have been invited by the Ministry of Home Affairs for online nominations for the Padma Awards namely Padma Vibhushan, Padma Bhushan and Padma Shri to be announced on the occasion of Republic Day 2026, for which the last date is July 31, 2025. Nominations or recommendations will be accepted online only on the National Awards Portal Award.gov.in. The person making the nomination should also submit an explanatory citation (maximum 800 words) clearly mentioning the distinguished and other achievements/services of the recommended person in the relevant field/subject.
He said that joint efforts should be made to identify those talented individuals from among women, weaker sections of society, Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes, Divyang people and people who have selflessly served the society, whose excellence and truly deserves respect.
DC informed that Padma Awards, namely Padma Vibhushan, Padma Bhushan and Padma Shri, are among the highest civilian awards of the country. Established in the year 1954, these awards are announced every year on the occasion of Republic Day.
These awards are given to recognize outstanding work for distinguished and exceptional achievements/services in all fields/disciplines like art, literature and education, sports, medicine, social work, science and engineering, public works, civil services, trade and industry.
All persons without any discrimination of caste, occupation, position or sex are eligible for these awards. Government employees working in public sector undertakings, except doctors and scientists, are not eligible for Padma Awards.
