Gurugram : Implementation of Police Commissionerate system in Gurugram, not only increased Gurugram’s status at national level, but also a significant progress in the direction of smart policing and community engagement is done. It is opined by Gurugram Police Commissioner, Vikas Arora while addressing the delegation of Police Shaheed Foundation Haryana.
This special program organized On the occasion of Gurugram Police Commissionerate Day was attended by Senior police officers, Police Shaheed Foundation Haryana members and dignitaries of the society. Addressing all important dignatories Police Commissioner Vikas Arora said “After the implementation of the Police Commissionerate system, Gurugram Police has done remarkable work in the field of community policing. The challenges are big, but our capacity and responsibility have also increased in the same proportion.”
He said that earlier only one SP level officer was posted in Gurugram, but in view of the population and infrastructural development, the government implemented the commissionerate and provided a strong administrative structure to the district. Today, Gurugram has an ADGP level Police Commissioner along with 7 DCPs and about 15 ACPs, who are working efficiently in many areas including law and order, cyber crime, traffic management.
He also attributed strong law and order and vigilant policing for Gurugram getting the title of ‘Cyber City’ and ‘Millennium City’.
Addressing the program, Advocate R.L. Sharma, President, Police Shaheed Foundation Haryana, said “In today’s time, the role of the police is not limited to just maintaining law and order, but maintaining the trust of the common man has also become a big challenge.”
Shri Sharma especially praised the leading role played by the police during the Corona epidemic. He said that when the whole country was in lockdown, the police performed its duties like a warrior and with its human face assured the society that the police is always standing with them.
He said that 18 years ago on 8 June 2007, the Police Commissionerate system was implemented in Gurugram, due to which the police got judicial and financial powers. He also assured on behalf of the Foundation that the Police Shaheed Foundation has been continuously engaged in police welfare since 2004 and will continue to work in the spirit of cooperation and coordination in future as well.
On this occasion, Police Shaheed Foundation Haryana General Secretary Deepak Maini, Women Wing President Ritu Kataria, Treasurer Chandra Prakash Bhardwaj, Senior Member Rajkumar Tyagi, Banwari Lal Sharma, Pradeep Modi, Dr. Anshul Dhingra along with many social workers, entrepreneurs, representatives of industry organizations and members of the Foundation were present.
