Gurugram : Deputy Commissioner (DC) Ajay Kumar called upon the officials to fulfill moral responsibility honestly regarding sex ratio improvement. He said that special attention should be given to those villages where the ratio of son and daughter is unbalanced. He gave these instructions to the officials in the conference hall at the Mini Secretariat after the video conference of Additional Chief Secretary of Health Department Sudhir Rajpal.
DC Ajay Kumar said that the district administration is fully alert and committed towards social evil like female foeticide. He made it clear that strict action will be taken against the persons concerned in cases related to sex determination and foeticide. The officials were directed to fulfill their responsibilities not only at the administrative but also at the moral level.
He said that in villages with low sex ratio, the Women and Child Development, Health, Education and Panchayat departments should work together in coordination so that the villagers can be made aware. Vigilance should be exercised at every level from registration of pregnant women to monitoring their health.
The DC also expected the Gram Panchayats to play an active role at their level and inspire the society not to discriminate between sons and daughters.
Talking about making the ‘Beti Bachao-Beti Padhao’ scheme more effective, he said that daughters should be given opportunities to move forward in every field and girls who perform excellently should be honored. This will send a positive message in the society and there will be a change in the thinking towards daughters.
Deputy Commissioner (DC) Ajay Kumar emphasized that improving the sex ratio is not only the responsibility of the government machinery, but it is the collective responsibility of the entire society. He said that equality should be ensured at every level from the birth of daughters to education, nutrition, health, security and respect. Cooperation of all sections is extremely necessary to stop crimes like sex determination and female foeticide.
On this occasion, Civil Surgeon Dr. Alka Singh, Deputy Civil Surgeon Dr. Pradeep Kumar, Nodal Officer ARD Dr. Ritu, SDCO Dr. Parminder, DCO Dr. Amandeep Chauhan and DCO Dr. Suresh Kumar along with other concerned officers were present.
