US President Trump in his message has said that “I am happy to announce that India and Pakistan have agreed on a complete and immediate ceasefire. We have had in-depth discussions with the leaders of both countries and have expressed commitment to maintaining peace. This is an important moment for South Asia.” According to the report, this decision has come after the continuous efforts of the US, the United Nations and several international mediators who took the initiative to stop the rapidly deteriorating situation in the region. US Secretary of State Marco Rubio said that ” Over the past 48 hours,VP Vance and I have engaged with senior Indian and Pakistani officials, including Prime Ministers Narendra Modi and Shehbaz Sharif, External Affairs Minister Subrahmanyam Jaishankar, Chief of Army Staff Asim Munir, and National Security Advisors Ajit Doval and Asim Malik.
He said that that “I am pleased to announce the Governments of India and Pakistan have agreed to an immediate ceasefire and to start talks on a broad set of issues at a neutral site. We commend Prime Ministers Modi and Sharif on their wisdom, prudence, and statesmanship in choosing the path of peace. ”
