Gurugram : Taking another initiative towards settling the cases pending in the courts for years, quickly and by mutual consent, the National Legal Services Authority and Haryana State Legal Services Authority will organize a National Lok Adalat in Gurugram on May 10.

On this occasion, litigants can settle their cases through compromise without a long legal process. They can avail this facility by appearing in the court themselves or through their advocates.

Secretary of the District Legal Services Authority, Ramesh Chandra, said that the purpose of this Lok Adalat is to settle the cases pending in the courts in a mutual understanding and cordial atmosphere. He said that Lok Adalat is an excellent platform for such cases in which both the parties can reach an agreement. In this court, matters like bank loans, motor vehicle accidents, cases related to check bounce, criminal disputes, revenue matters, and marital disputes will be heard.

Ramesh Chandra said that the decision of the Lok Adalat is final, and no appeal can be made against it – which saves both time and cost in the judicial process. He said that the purpose of Lok Adalats is not to decide on ‘win or lose’, but to find a fair solution with the consent of both the parties. This is the reason why Lok Adalats have emerged as a reliable option among the common people in the past years.
