-Media workshop organized on TB disease awareness
Gurugram, March 19 : A media workshop was organized on March 19 under the guidance of DC Ajay Kumar and CMO Dr. Virendra Yadav with the aim of creating awareness among the general public about TB (Tuberculosis). Deputy CMO Dr. Keshav Sharma said that 60 out of 154 panchayats in Gurugram have become TB free. He said that TB is not an incurable disease. Its complete free treatment is available at government hospitals. TB medicine is available free of cost at all government health centers. He said these things during the media workshop organized by the Health Department Gurugram on TB disease awareness.
Dr. Keshav Sharma said that under the slogan of TB will lose, the country will win, a public participation campaign is being run to make the country tuberculosis free, in which the youth also have an important role. He appealed to the youth to increase awareness about this disease through social media and other means. Dr. Keshav told that TB (Tuberculosis) is an infectious disease, which mainly affects the lungs and is caused by a bacterium called Mycobacterium tuberculosis.
It spreads through air and its treatment is possible, but it is necessary to take treatment regularly and for the full period. He also told that TB bacteria live in the body, but if a person’s immunity is weak, it can become active in the body and make the person sick. The chances of TB infection are highest in children below 5 years of age, people with less than normal weight, people who consume alcohol and tobacco, diabetes, kidney patients, HIV infected people and people living in contact with TB infected person.
Dr. Keshav told that free medicine and treatment is available to TB patients. Under the Nikshay Poshan Yojana, financial assistance of Rs. 1000 is being given to the patients.
