Commerce and Industry Minister Calls for Greater Innovation, Advanced Manufacturing and R&D to Strengthen India’s Position in Global Value Chains
Bhubaneswar: Union Minister of Commerce and Industry Piyush Goyal participated in a fireside chat at the Business Odisha Conclave on the theme ‘Building Globally Competitive Enterprises, Exports, and Manufacturing from Odisha’ and presented awards to outstanding industry leaders, enterprises and brands in recognition of their achievements.
During the interaction, the Minister highlighted India’s expanding strength in global commerce, supported by record export performance, an expanding network of international trade partnerships and the resilience of the Indian economy.
He emphasised that Odisha has significant opportunities to strengthen its industrial and export ecosystem by leveraging the benefits emerging from India’s Free Trade Agreements (FTAs). These agreements are opening up wider access to international markets and creating new avenues for Indian businesses to expand their global presence.
Shri Goyal also highlighted the potential for Odisha to accelerate its manufacturing growth, enhance export competitiveness and integrate more deeply into international supply chains by making effective use of emerging trade opportunities.
Underscoring the priorities for India’s next phase of economic expansion, the Minister said that sustained growth would require greater ambition, deeper innovation and a stronger global outlook among Indian enterprises.
He encouraged businesses to step up investments in research and development (R&D), advanced manufacturing capabilities and emerging technologies to strengthen their competitiveness and establish a stronger presence in global value chains.
The Minister’s interaction at the conclave highlighted the importance of industry-led innovation, export diversification and global market integration in positioning Odisha as a key contributor to India’s ambition of becoming a globally competitive manufacturing and trade powerhouse.
