Leader of Opposition Says Opposition Parties Will Unite to Defend the Constitution and Voting Rights; Invites Political and Non-Political Groups to Join the March
New Delhi: Leader of Opposition in the Lok Sabha, Shri Rahul Gandhi, addressing the media, announced that the proposed programme concerning the public impeachment of Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) Gyanesh Kumar has been postponed by a day due to rainfall.
He said that all concerned leaders had reached a consensus to reschedule the programme for tomorrow at the same time, keeping the prevailing weather conditions in view.
Announcing the opposition’s next course of action, Rahul Gandhi said that on November 1, all opposition parties would jointly march towards Ramlila Maidan in Delhi. He invited everyone willing to participate, irrespective of political affiliation, including individuals and non-political organisations, to join the march.
During his interaction with the media, Rahul Gandhi alleged that the Union Home Minister was making efforts to prevent people from reaching Delhi to participate in the opposition’s programme.
Allegations of Vote Theft and Voter Disenfranchisement
Raising concerns over the electoral process and the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls, the Congress leader alleged that millions of people were being disenfranchised and deprived of their voting rights. He further alleged that votes were being stolen to benefit industrialists Gautam Adani and Mukesh Ambani, Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Union Home Minister Amit Shah and RSS chief Mohan Bhagwat.
These allegations formed a major part of his criticism of the prevailing political and electoral environment.
Opposition Presents Unified Stand on Constitutional Values
Emphasising the unity among opposition parties, Rahul Gandhi maintained that the ongoing demonstrations should not be viewed as separate protests but as part of a single, collective movement.
He said that opposition parties were standing together to defend the Constitution, uphold the idea of India and protect the right to vote, which he described as the fundamental expression of every Indian citizen’s democratic voice.
The proposed November 1 march to Ramlila Maidan is being projected by the opposition as a joint mobilisation centred on electoral transparency, voting rights and the protection of democratic institutions.
