Lucknow: Samajwadi Party President and Lok Sabha MP Akhilesh Yadav has levelled serious allegations of corruption in the construction of the Bateshwar Corridor project, claiming that substandard construction practices are being adopted and complaints regarding the project have been ignored.

Sharing a video purportedly showing the construction site on social media platform X, the former Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister alleged that the footage provides direct evidence of large-scale irregularities in the execution of the project.

In his post, Akhilesh Yadav claimed that Plain Cement Concrete (PCC) was being poured directly onto the soil without laying the required base, alleging that this reflected poor construction standards.

“This is direct proof of the rampant corruption taking place in the work of the Bateshwar Corridor. A video has openly surfaced showing PCC being poured directly onto the soil without any base, in broad daylight,” he said.

The Samajwadi Party chief further alleged that substandard concrete and stones were being used in the project and claimed that written complaints regarding alleged design flaws and construction deficiencies had been submitted on multiple occasions.

According to him, these complaints were neither acted upon nor investigated.

Akhilesh Yadav also accused the BJP government of intimidating citizens who raise concerns about alleged irregularities.

“In BJP rule, when any honest citizen raises their voice, they start receiving threat calls instead of getting their grievances addressed,” he alleged.

He further remarked, “In BJP rule, threats are being issued instead of hearings.”

Referring to another infrastructure promise made by the state government, Akhilesh Yadav also questioned the status of the proposed Atal Progress Way project.

“The BJP had also talked about building the ‘Atal Progress Way’. The public is asking whether the ‘Atal Progress Way’ was just another empty promise,” he said.

As of now, the Uttar Pradesh Government and the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) have not officially responded to these allegations. The claims made by Akhilesh Yadav are allegations and have not been independently verified.
