PM Narendra Modi Inaugurates Alluri Sitarama Raju International Airport, Launches Development Projects in Andhra Pradesh

Bhogapuram (Andhra Pradesh) : Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Friday inaugurated the Alluri Sitarama Raju International Airport at Bhogapuram in Andhra Pradesh, describing it as a landmark infrastructure project that will significantly strengthen connectivity and accelerate the state’s economic growth.

Addressing a public gathering after inaugurating the airport, the Prime Minister said the world-class facility combines advanced infrastructure with cutting-edge technology to provide passengers with a modern, seamless, and efficient travel experience.

“This airport brings together advanced infrastructure and cutting-edge technologies to ensure a seamless travel experience. It will give a major boost to tourism, trade, investment and employment,” the Prime Minister said.

Highlighting the airport’s design, PM Modi said the terminal building reflects the rich cultural identity and architectural heritage of Andhra Pradesh while incorporating modern aviation infrastructure to meet future requirements.

The Prime Minister noted that the airport has been named after freedom fighter Alluri Sitarama Raju, saying it symbolises both India’s respect for its rich heritage and its aspirations for a progressive future.

“Named after the great Alluri Sitarama Raju, this airport represents pride in our heritage and a spirit of optimism towards our future,” he said.

PM Modi also expressed gratitude to the people of Andhra Pradesh for the warm welcome extended to him during the inauguration ceremony. He said he was deeply moved by the participation of more than 13,000 students, who performed the traditional Dhimsa dance to mark the occasion.

“I am deeply touched by the special gesture of over 13,000 students performing the vibrant Dhimsa dance during the inauguration of the Bhogapuram Airport. This extraordinary gesture reflects the warmth of the people of Andhra Pradesh and the richness of the state’s heritage, especially that of the tribal communities,” the Prime Minister said.

During his address, PM Modi highlighted that the projects launched in Andhra Pradesh span several strategic sectors, including aviation, clean energy, semiconductors, and transport connectivity, and will play a crucial role in strengthening the state’s economy.

He said these initiatives are expected to improve infrastructure, attract investment, generate employment opportunities, promote industrial growth, and enhance Andhra Pradesh’s position as a key hub for manufacturing, logistics, and renewable energy.

The Prime Minister emphasized that the newly inaugurated airport and other development projects launched during his visit reflect the Government’s commitment to building modern infrastructure and creating new opportunities for the people of Andhra Pradesh while contributing to India’s overall economic development.
