Suitable locations, including office premises, to be identified under the PM E-DRIVE scheme: Vikram Singh
Gurugram : Significant steps are being taken to promote the use of electric vehicles (EVs) and encourage green, clean energy in the state, under the directives of Vikram Singh, Managing Director of Haryana DISCOMs—Dakshin Haryana Bijli Vitran Nigam (DHBVN) and Uttar Haryana Bijli Vitran Nigam (UHBVN). The process of establishing public EV charging stations across the state has been accelerated under the Government of India’s Ministry of Heavy Industries’ PM E-DRIVE scheme.
Managing Director Vikram Singh stated that UHBVN has been entrusted with the responsibility of acting as the State Nodal Agency for this scheme. In this capacity, various government departments, boards, corporations, and agencies have been asked to provide details—in a prescribed format—regarding suitable government land available near government offices, residential complexes, hospitals, educational institutions, cities, and national or state highways.
Concurrently, suitable locations are being identified within office premises owned by Haryana DISCOMs for the installation of EV charging stations. Offices and buildings with at least 60 square meters of vacant land and easy access from the main road will be selected. Detailed information regarding each potential site will be prepared in the prescribed format and submitted on a priority basis.
In this regard, necessary instructions have been issued by UHBVN to all concerned departments and by Haryana DISCOMs to all relevant Chief Engineers to ensure the timely compilation of information and facilitate further action.
Managing Director Vikram Singh emphasized that developing a robust charging infrastructure for electric vehicles is a necessity for the future. Under the scheme, modern public charging stations will be developed on land measuring at least 60 square meters in cities and 300 square meters along national and state highways; these stations will offer fast-charging facilities for various categories of electric vehicles, including two-wheelers, three-wheelers, four-wheelers, buses, and trucks.
He stated that this initiative would not only promote the use of electric vehicles in the state but also play a significant role in achieving goals related to environmental conservation, the expansion of clean energy, the reduction of carbon emissions, and sustainable development. All the public charging stations to be established will be accessible to the general public without any restrictions.
