New Delhi / Shivpuri : A major milestone in India’s defence manufacturing sector has been marked with the groundbreaking of South Asia’s largest private-sector missile manufacturing facility in Shivpuri, Madhya Pradesh.
The ₹2,500 crore integrated project, developed by Adani Defence & Aerospace, is being described as India’s first fully integrated facility of its kind. It will combine missile production with the manufacturing of composite propellants and TNT—key materials essential for advanced missile systems and warheads.
According to the company, the facility is designed to bridge the gap between successful research and development trials conducted by the Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO) and large-scale production, thereby accelerating the deployment of next-generation missile systems into active service.
The groundbreaking ceremony was attended by Union Minister and Guna MP Jyotiraditya Scindia, Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Mohan Yadav, Madhya Pradesh Energy Minister Pradyuman Singh Tomar, as well as Karan Adani, Managing Director of Adani Ports & SEZ and Director of Adani Cement, and Jeet Adani, Director of Adani Defence & Aerospace.
The facility is expected to generate around 5,000 direct and indirect skilled jobs, while also creating significant opportunities for MSMEs. Officials say the project will further strengthen Madhya Pradesh’s position as an emerging defence manufacturing hub.
Aligned with the vision of Aatmanirbhar Bharat, the project is seen as a major step toward enhancing India’s long-term defence preparedness and self-reliance in critical military technologies.
Designed to meet the requirements of the Indian Armed Forces as well as trusted international partners, the facility is expected to reinforce India’s position as a reliable global supplier of precision-guided munitions.
