PM Modi Receives Grand Ceremonial Welcome at Jakarta’s Istana Merdeka

New Delhi /Jakarta: Prime Minister Narendra Modi received a grand ceremonial welcome at Istana Merdeka, the official Presidential Palace of Indonesia, marking a significant milestone in his visit to the country. The visit is expected to further strengthen the India–Indonesia Comprehensive Strategic Partnership by creating new opportunities for cooperation across key priority areas.  The engagement highlights the deep-rooted friendship, mutual trust, and shared values that continue to shape relations between India and Indonesia.

Both nations are looking to expand collaboration in areas of strategic importance while reinforcing their commitment to closer partnership and regional cooperation.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi has underlined the importance of dialogue and diplomacy in addressing global challenges, stating that their role has become more crucial amid the ongoing geopolitical uncertainties.

Addressing the India-Indonesia engagement, PM Modi said India supports a two-state solution for the Palestine issue and remains committed to achieving long-term peace and stability.

Highlighting the deep historical and cultural connections between India and Indonesia, the Prime Minister said both nations share a common heritage, mutual trust in the present, and a vision of shared prosperity for the future. He expressed confidence that together, India and Indonesia would achieve their respective national aspirations — “Indonesia Emas” (Golden Indonesia) and a developed India.

PM Modi also emphasised that democratic values and the principle of unity in diversity have been common strengths of both countries. He noted that democratic cooperation would receive further momentum through a proposed Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between the Election Commissions of India and Indonesia.

The Prime Minister further highlighted growing cooperation between the two countries on global issues and said there is strong convergence in their approach towards the Indo-Pacific region.

Reaffirming India’s commitment to regional partnerships, PM Modi said India continues to attach high importance to ASEAN centrality and closer cooperation with Southeast Asian nations.
