Chandigarh : The Haryana Police has earned national recognition after delivering an impressive performance at the 69th All India Police Duty Meet (2025–26), held in Nagpur from March 28 to April 2.

In a standout achievement, EHC Veer Bhan, currently posted with the Bomb Disposal Squad at Hisar Airport, secured a silver medal in the highly demanding ‘Human Body Search’ event. Partnering with his explosives detection dog ‘Mandy’, Veer Bhan demonstrated exceptional skill in identifying hidden explosive materials through scent alone—an operation requiring precision, training, and seamless coordination.

Top Officials Laud Performance

Additional Director General of Police (CID) Saurabh Singh congratulated the team, calling the achievement a proud moment for the state. He praised the dedication, discipline, and teamwork displayed by Veer Bhan and ‘Mandy’, noting that their success reflects the high standards of training within the force.

He also acknowledged the commendable effort of Constable Sandeep and his dog ‘Rocky’, who secured fourth place in the Basic Obedience category, where precise command execution is the key evaluation criterion.

Challenging Competitions Test Skill and Coordination

The All India Police Duty Meet features a range of specialised canine events, including building search, vehicle search, luggage search, human body search, and ground search. These competitions demand rigorous training and a strong bond between handler and dog.

Achievement Despite Limited Participation

Notably, only two sniffer dogs from the CID Haryana unit participated in the event—both delivering strong performances. Officials highlighted this as a significant accomplishment, especially given the limited representation.

First Medal in Explosives Detection Category

This marks the first time that CID Haryana’s dog squad has secured a medal in the explosives detection category at the national level. The achievement is being seen as a reflection of the department’s evolving training systems and focus on canine welfare.

ADGP Saurabh Singh expressed confidence that such successes will inspire other police units and reinforce Haryana Police’s commitment to excellence through modern training and teamwork.
