At 1200 hrs, Prime Minister Modi will ceremonially hoist a saffron flag atop the Shikhar of the Shri Ram Janmbhoomi Temple, symbolising the completion of the temple’s construction and heralding a new chapter of cultural celebration and national unity. The Prime Minister will also address the gathering on this historic occasion.
The programme coincides with Panchami of Shukla Paksha in the month of Margashirsha, aligning with the Abhijit Muhurat of Shri Ram and Maa Sita’s Vivah Panchami, a day symbolising divine union. The date also marks the martyrdom day of Guru Tegh Bahadur Ji, the ninth Sikh Guru, who meditated in Ayodhya for 48 hours in the 17th century, further enhancing the day’s spiritual significance.
The right-angled triangular saffron flag, measuring 10 feet in height and 20 feet in length, bears the image of a radiant Sun, symbolising the brilliance and valour of Bhagwan Shri Ram, along with an ‘Om’ inscription and an image of the Kovidara tree. The sacred flag embodies the ideals of Ram Rajya, conveying a message of dignity, unity, and cultural continuity.
The flag will be hoisted atop a Shikhar constructed in the traditional North Indian Nagara architectural style, while the surrounding 800-metre Parkota, designed in the South Indian architectural tradition, highlights the structural and artistic diversity of the temple complex.
The temple premises feature 87 intricately carved stone episodes from the life of Bhagwan Shri Ram, based on the Valmiki Ramayana, adorning the outer walls of the main temple. Additionally, 79 bronze-cast episodes depicting Indian cultural heritage are positioned along the Parkota walls. Together, these installations offer visitors a profound and educational experience, providing deep insights into the life of Bhagwan Shri Ram and India’s rich cultural legacy.
