New Delhi : External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar met with US Ambassador-designate Sergio Gor on Saturday (October 11, 2025). Sergio Gor is currently in New Delhi on a six-day visit following his recent Senate confirmation.
External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar expressed his happiness after meeting with US Ambassador-designate Sergio Gor. Jaishankar posted on the social media platform X on Saturday (October 11, 2025). In the post, Jaishankar said, “I was delighted to meet US Ambassador-designate Sergio Gor in New Delhi today. During our meeting, we discussed the relationship between India and the US, as well as its global significance, and wished him well in his new assignment.”
According to the US Department of State, Deputy Secretary for Management and Resources Michael J. Rigas is accompanying Gor on his visit to New Delhi. His visit will last from October 9 to 14, 2025.
Sergio Gor’s visit comes at a time when India and the United States are working to further strengthen strategic and trade ties. The two countries are finalizing a trade agreement and exploring ways to enhance cooperation in technology and defense.
According to the US Embassy, Sergio Gor recently arrived in India and will formally present his credentials to Indian President Draupadi Murmu shortly.
In addition to meeting Indian Foreign Minister S. Jaishankar, the incoming ambassador to New Delhi, Sergio Gor, also met with Foreign Secretary Vikram Misri during his visit. India’s Ministry of External Affairs issued a statement in this regard.
