Gurugram : Paryawaran Sanrakshan Gatividhi, Gurugram in association with Municipal Corporation of Gurugram / Group of Citizens / RWAs / NGOs / Schools / Hospitals / Corporates and various other like-minded organizations have joined hands to save the environment in Millennium City Gurugram. An awareness Mega Event will be organized to protect atmosphere from all evils those are polluting our surrounding . “FIT INDIA MOVEMENT” is also supporting this event that is launched by Prime Minister of India to encourage people to remain healthy and fit. This Event is rescheduled for Sunday 3rd April 2022 which was earlier scheduled for the month of January 2022. Entire focus of this “Environmental Paryavaran Chetna Yatra” will be to save the deteriorating environment of Gurugram that is neglected till date. To make common citizens aware of the environmental hazards and related issues of Millennium City is the aim of such initiative.
The purpose of the event is to create awareness amongst the vast population of this international City about the importance of saving & protecting our environment, said Ajay Pandita ,Convenor of this event. He opined that the attention of all the living & floating population of Gurugram particularly senior citizens & young children will be drawn towards environment protection so that posterity does not blame the present generation for the environmental mess. He said that “ we have identified four areas of serious concern which needs attention Necessity of Tree Plantation, Water Conservation & Water Harvesting, Waste Management, and To Stop Usage of Single Use Plastic.
According to Ajay Pandita the Cyclothon will now be called as “Paryawaran Cycle Yatra – Cyclothon For FIT INDIA” which will also include Walkathon/Marathon . It will start from four different directions of Gurugram and will be converging at one locaion at Leisure Valley Park,Sector-29,Gurugram. Cyclothon Yatra will also include Plogger’s (Volunteers who collect Trash while running/Cycling/Walking along a certain route) who will be participating along-with Walkathon and Marathon members. The Convenor said that elderly & young children with cycles can also join en-route for certain small distances or till the final destination point at Leisure Valley. Initial estimate for the Paryawaran Cycle Yatra is for four Groups of approx. 1250 Cyclists each. Natural Habitat Centre,Bani Dham Service Road, Opp Sec-55,Ghata , Badshapur – Orana convention Centre, Sector-64, Ggn, Old Gurgaon near Sec 4 / 7 and Rezangla Chowk, Palam Vihar are the 4 locations from where groups will start with focus on four different themes
Anurag Kulshrestha Media Coordinator of this event said that the Cyclothon / Marathon members will be flagged off from four different Locations and it will be done in batches from 7.00 a.m. onwards. Plogging will also be conducted en-route by volunteers and participants. He informed that the final termination point and assembly will be at main entrance of Leisure Valley Park, Sector 29 at around 8.00 a.m. The Function at Leisure Valley will last for 1.5 to 2 hours .The Children will also be participating in Environmental related Painting Competition.
He said that theatre artists will also be performing on spot to highlight the need for saving our environment. Many eminent persons of the society, NGO’s, sports persons and celebrities will be part of this initiative.
He clarified that the route map of all the four areas has been e finalised for circulation to all participants. The organizers will have sufficient number of volunteers and medical partners along the route to create the desired awareness & guide the cyclists/ participants for any emergency situations.
As per the planning of this event MCG is identifying at least two locations in every ward of Gurugram where murals on boundary walls / fly-overs / pillars / old buildings etc can be painted based on these different themes. The children from different schools are also invited to be part of this noble Initiative. MCG will also hold special workshops with our team for protecting the Environment where tree plantation and waste segregation drives can be regularly held. Smaller events in localities and Group Housing Societies across Gurugram are also being planned to create awareness.
Mukesh Kumar, Commissioner MCG was the first person to register his name on-line for the participation in the environmental based Cyclothon. Different logos of the four themes were also launched along with the teaser advertisement which will highlight the need to “Save our Environment”.
On line Google form for registration of the participants is already available for members desiring to participate. They can scan the code and get themselves instantly registered.
