Chess Championship Produces Many Exciting Games in the Third Round

 19 Players are in the lead with three points At the End of the third round

GURUGRAM : The 31st National under-9 open & Girls chess championship being organized by the District chess association Guragaon under the aegis of The Haryana Chess Association at Shriram Global school in sector 45 ,Gurgaon produced several exciting games in the third round here on Saturday.

According to Naresh Sharma, General Secy of the The Haryana Chess Association,  Tamilnadu’s young talent Ilamparthi the top seed who was upset in the second round By Vidit Jain from Punjab came back strongly by thumping Sourjya Mukherjee of West Bengal in the Third round leaving him one point off the leaders. At the end of the third round there are 19 players in the lead with three points out of three while there are 22 players with 2.5 points out of three.There are a further eight rounds to go.Giant killer Vidit Jain from Punjab had to face bitter defeat at the hands of Sairaj Dilip vernekar from Goa. Prominent among the leaders are third seed Prinash Das of Orissa,saraj vernekar, John veny from kerala ,and Gyana sai santosh from Andhra Pradesh. Mr Sharma said that in the girls section top seed Jahnavi Sri Lalita Malla Reddy justified top billing by scoring three points out of three rounds when she outplayed Swetha from Tamilnadu on the top board. There are 11 other girls on three points out of three with the prominent among them being second seed Anupam .M.Sreekumar and Rout Yashita from  Odisha who upset third seed Netra P Savalkar in the third round.

Daaewik Wadhwan (2) Delhi lost to Kakodkar Joy(2) from Goa
