F&CC Clears Additional Manpower and Machinery for All Six Zones, Door-to-Door C&D Waste Collection and Mechanical Road Sweeping

Gurugram : The Municipal Corporation of Gurugram (MCG) has taken a significant step towards strengthening the city’s sanitation system and solid waste management infrastructure. At its 10th Finance & Contract Committee (F&CC) meeting, chaired by Mayor Rajrani Malhotra, the committee approved nine sanitation, waste management and Construction & Demolition (C&D) waste-related projects with a combined estimated cost of ₹47.26 crore.

The meeting was attended by Senior Deputy Mayor Dharmbir Bhangrola, Deputy Mayor Anoop Singh, F&CC members Sunder Singh and Ashish Gupta, Municipal Commissioner Pradeep Dahiya, Municipal Secretary Dr. Siddharth Khandelwal, along with engineering officials.

The approved proposals focus on providing additional manpower and machinery across all six MCG zones, door-to-door collection of C&D waste, development of civil infrastructure for daily waste processing, and operation and maintenance of mechanical road sweeping machines.

Additional Manpower and Machinery for All Six Zones

The F&CC approved the deployment of additional manpower and machinery in Zones 1 to 6 to strengthen sanitation services. Equipment such as tractor-trolleys and JCB machines will be made available in each zone.

An amount of ₹455.89 lakh per zone has been earmarked for the additional resources, taking the total allocation for all six zones to approximately ₹27.35 crore.

The additional resources are expected to improve waste collection, sanitation operations and special cleanliness drives at the ward and zone levels.

500 TPD Door-to-Door C&D Waste Collection

The committee also approved a project for door-to-door collection of 500 tonnes per day (TPD) of C&D waste across Gurugram. The project has an estimated cost of approximately ₹4.34 crore.

The initiative is aimed at ensuring systematic collection and management of construction and demolition debris and preventing its uncontrolled accumulation along roadsides, vacant plots and other public spaces.

Four Sheds for Daily Waste Processing

To strengthen the city’s waste-processing infrastructure, the F&CC approved the development of four civil infrastructure sheds for processing daily generated waste.

The project has been allocated approximately ₹9.92 crore. The new infrastructure is expected to support more scientific and systematic waste management while enhancing the city’s processing capacity.

Mechanical Road Sweeping to Improve Road Cleanliness

The committee also approved the operation and maintenance of mechanical road sweeping machines for a period of six months at a cost of ₹5.64 crore.

Regular deployment of mechanical road sweepers is expected to improve cleanliness along major roads and other identified areas of the city.

Mayor Rajrani Malhotra

Mayor Rajrani Malhotra said that making Gurugram a clean, beautiful and well-organised city remains a priority of the Municipal Corporation.

She said the decision to provide additional manpower and machinery across all six zones would significantly strengthen sanitation services. Improved door-to-door C&D waste collection, waste-processing infrastructure and mechanical road sweeping would help provide better sanitation services to residents.

The Mayor said the MCG’s objective is to ensure that sanitation is not limited to periodic campaigns but becomes a regular, effective and sustainable system.

MCG Commissioner Pradeep Dahiya

Municipal Commissioner Pradeep Dahiya said the MCG is continuously strengthening the city’s sanitation and waste management systems.

He said the projects approved by the F&CC would provide additional resources for sanitation operations in all six zones. The door-to-door collection of C&D waste and additional infrastructure for waste processing would further strengthen the city’s waste management system, while effective operation of mechanical road sweeping machines would improve cleanliness on major roads.

“Our objective is to provide the people of Gurugram with clean, organised and improved civic services,” Dahiya said.

Senior Deputy Mayor and Deputy Mayor Welcome Decisions

Senior Deputy Mayor Dharmbir Bhangrola and Deputy Mayor Anoop Singh said the projects approved by the committee represent important steps towards strengthening Gurugram’s sanitation system through additional resources, technology and improved waste management practices.

They emphasised that the initiatives would contribute to improving sanitation services and strengthening the city’s overall waste management infrastructure.
