New Delhi/Washington, D.C.: The Embassy of India, in collaboration with the American Spice Trade Association (ASTA), hosted a special event celebrating the rich diversity of Indian spices and their growing global culinary footprint.

The event showcased the variety, quality and traditional significance of Indian spices and highlighted their enduring influence on cuisines across the world. From the farm to the global table, Indian spices represent a unique combination of heritage, agricultural expertise, quality and expanding international market opportunities.

Indian Ambassador to the United States Vinay Mohan Kwatra addressed the gathering and highlighted the importance of strengthening commercial and economic engagement between India and the United States.

The event also provided an opportunity to highlight the growing role of spices and agri-food products in India-US trade, with Indian producers and exporters increasingly connecting with global markets. Greater cooperation in areas such as food processing, agricultural value chains, quality standards, technology, logistics and market access can further expand opportunities for businesses in both countries.

India and the United States share a broad-based economic partnership, with bilateral trade encompassing a wide range of goods and services. Events promoting Indian agricultural and food products help create greater awareness among American businesses and consumers while opening avenues for trade, investment and business-to-business partnerships.

The collaboration with ASTA also underlined the importance of continued engagement between industry stakeholders in both countries to facilitate market access, promote high-quality products and strengthen supply-chain linkages.

The celebration thus went beyond showcasing India’s culinary heritage, serving as a platform to underline the potential of India-US trade and economic cooperation and the opportunities for taking Indian spices and other value-added agricultural products to an even wider global market.
