Special teams conduct enforcement drives in industrial areas of Sectors 18 and 33; connections with outstanding dues running into lakhs disconnected
Gurugram : The Municipal Corporation of Gurugram (MCG) has intensified its drive to recover outstanding water bill dues and take action against illegal and unauthorised water connections. For this purpose, the civic body has constituted two special teams that are conducting inspections in different areas, identifying defaulter consumers and unauthorised water connections, and taking action as per the prescribed rules.
As part of the ongoing campaign, MCG special teams conducted inspections and enforcement action in the industrial areas of Sector 18 and Sector 33. During the drive, several industrial water connections were disconnected after it was found that their water bills had remained unpaid for a long period.
The action included connections carrying outstanding dues of around ₹5 lakh, ₹14 lakh and even higher amounts.
Action to Continue Against Consumers with Outstanding Dues
MCG officials said that action will continue against consumers who fail to clear their outstanding water bills on time. Civic teams are inspecting water connections and verifying related records across different areas.
Officials also clarified that illegal or unauthorised water connections operating without valid approval must be regularised through the prescribed procedure. If such connections are not regularised within the stipulated process, the MCG will take action to disconnect them.
Consumers Urged to Link Water Connections with Property IDs
The Municipal Corporation has appealed to all water consumers to pay their outstanding water bills on time. Consumers have also been advised to update their water connection and property-related records and link them with their Property ID (PID) on the MCG portal.
The civic body said the objective of the campaign is to streamline the water billing system, ensure recovery of outstanding dues and establish effective control over illegal water connections.
Officials urged consumers to keep their water connection and billing records updated and make timely payments. They said cooperation from consumers would not only help avoid enforcement action but also contribute to maintaining a smooth and efficient water management system in Gurugram.
