Union Minister explores Washington’s water supply, distribution and wastewater management systems
New Delhi/ Washington, D.C.: Union Power Minister Manohar Lal visited the headquarters of DC Water in Washington, D.C., to gain insights into the city’s water supply, distribution and wastewater management systems.
During the visit, the Minister explored how the U.S. capital manages its water infrastructure, integrates wastewater treatment and management, and ensures reliable service delivery to citizens.
Manohar Lal said such international exchanges provide valuable opportunities to learn from global best practices in urban infrastructure. He noted that India’s cities are rapidly advancing their urban development agenda, making it important to identify and adapt relevant solutions from successful models around the world.
He emphasised that adopting suitable international practices, while considering India’s own requirements, can contribute to the development of more efficient, resilient and sustainable urban water systems.
The visit also highlighted the importance of knowledge-sharing and international cooperation in addressing the growing challenges associated with urban water management and infrastructure development.
