New Delhi/Dirang : The National Institute of Mountaineering and Adventure Sports (NIMAS), Dirang, has achieved a historic milestone by completing a First Ascent Mountaineering Expedition to 20 previously unclimbed peaks in Ladakh.
The expedition recorded 20 first-ever summits in just 23 days during August–September 2026, marking a remarkable achievement in India’s mountaineering and adventure sports landscape.
The feat highlights India’s growing capabilities in high-altitude exploration, expedition leadership, mountaineering and adventure sports. It also reflects the determination and endurance of the expedition team in tackling challenging and unexplored terrain.
Beyond the sporting achievement, the expedition is expected to inspire India’s youth to embrace challenges, explore the country’s diverse and rugged landscapes, and develop a spirit of adventure and leadership that contributes to nation-building.
