New Delhi: Raising the question, “How long will students continue to lose their lives like this?”, activists of the Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP) staged a protest at Delhi University’s Arts Faculty in North Campus over the tragic collapse of a PG building in Satya Niketan.
ABVP activists expressed condolences to the families of the students who lost their lives in the incident and prayed for peace for the departed souls. The student organisation demanded strict action against all those responsible for the tragedy, including the resignation of the MCD Commissioner. The demand for the Commissioner’s resignation has also featured in ABVP’s protests at the MCD headquarters. (Organiser)
The protesters raised concerns over student safety and the enforcement of building and accommodation safety norms, calling for accountability for officials and authorities responsible for ensuring the safety of students living in PGs and rented accommodations.
ABVP National Joint Organising Secretary J. Devdatt, Northwest Region Regional Organising Secretary Ashwani Sharma, and National Minister Aditya Takiar, along with other Delhi-based ABVP workers, were present during the protest.
The student organisation has demanded a fair investigation into the Satya Niketan collapse, accountability for those found responsible, and stronger safety inspections of PG accommodations and other buildings in student-dominated areas of Delhi. (Organiser)
