New Delhi: The BJP has strongly criticised the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) and Congress for allegedly indulging in political blame games following the tragic building collapse in Satya Niketan, Delhi, where several people lost their lives.
In a strongly worded statement, the BJP said the incident was “heartbreaking” and stressed that government agencies were engaged in rescue and relief operations. The party highlighted the presence of Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta, who it said remained at the site for several hours and also visited the location again during the ongoing response.
The BJP said senior government officials and ministers were also present on the ground, overseeing the rescue, relief and rehabilitation efforts.
Targeting the opposition, the BJP accused AAP and Congress leaders of attempting to gain political mileage from the tragedy instead of contributing to relief efforts. It described such criticism as “petty politics” and urged political parties not to politicise the incident.
The BJP also targeted former Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal, alleging that he had failed to reach accident sites promptly during previous incidents in the capital. The party questioned his record of responding to such tragedies while in office.
The BJP said opposition parties should “look inward” and address issues arising from their own tenure instead of making accusations on social media.
The party further appealed to political leaders to avoid making “childish and cheap statements” during a tragedy and instead focus on helping those affected.
The BJP maintained that while political parties may raise questions about governance and accountability, tragedies should not become an occasion for political point-scoring or blame games.
