New Delhi: The Delhi Police held an inter-state coordination meeting to review security preparedness and strengthen coordination with neighbouring states and districts ahead of the upcoming BRICS Summit 2026.
The meeting was chaired by Joint Commissioner of Police, Eastern Range, Milind Mahadeo Dumbere. Discussions focused on ensuring seamless coordination between police forces across state and district boundaries for effective law and order management, security arrangements, traffic regulation, emergency response, border vigilance and movement management during the summit.
The coordination assumes added significance as India is hosting the BRICS Chairship in 2026. India formally assumed the chairship for the year and has outlined its BRICS agenda under the theme “Building for Resilience, Innovation, Cooperation and Sustainability.” (Ministry of External Affairs)
BRICS is a major grouping of emerging economies that serves as a platform for cooperation on issues including global economic governance, trade, development, finance, technology and international affairs. With India holding the chairship this year, a series of high-level meetings and events are being conducted in the country, including meetings of BRICS Sherpas, Foreign Ministers and National Security Advisers. Against this backdrop, Delhi Police is strengthening inter-state and inter-district coordination to ensure the smooth conduct of the summit and associated high-level engagements. The security planning is aimed at maintaining seamless movement of delegates and ensuring a coordinated response to any law-and-order, traffic or emergency situation.
The meeting brought together officials concerned with security and movement management, with emphasis on real-time coordination, heightened vigilance and preparedness across jurisdictional boundaries during the BRICS Summit.
