New Delhi: Union Minister for Housing and Urban Affairs Manohar Lal chaired the 124th meeting of the Rajghat Samadhi Committee, where a detailed assessment was carried out of the operations, maintenance, cleanliness and overall arrangements at the Rajghat Memorial.
During the meeting, officials reviewed measures related to the upkeep and conservation of the memorial. The committee issued necessary guidelines aimed at further improving arrangements at Rajghat and ensuring its systematic maintenance and long-term preservation.
Manohar Lal said that maintaining the dignity and sanctity of Rajghat is a moral responsibility, given its deep association with the memory of Mahatma Gandhi, the Father of the Nation.
He emphasised that Rajghat is not simply a national memorial but represents the enduring ideals associated with Mahatma Gandhi — truth, non-violence, peace and humanity — values that continue to hold relevance in contemporary times.
The meeting underlined the need for sustained attention to the memorial’s cleanliness, conservation and visitor facilities, while ensuring that the site continues to reflect the dignity and respect associated with Gandhi’s legacy.
The review is aimed at ensuring that Rajghat remains a well-preserved national memorial and a lasting symbol of India’s commitment to the ideals of truth, peace and non-violence.
