Gurugram : The International Centre for Automotive Technology (ICAT) celebrated India’s 80th Independence Day with patriotic fervour and enthusiasm, with its leadership calling for greater emphasis on advanced technologies, innovation and indigenous research and development (R&D) to strengthen the country’s technological self-reliance.
The celebrations began with the unfurling of the National Flag at the ICAT premises, followed by the National Anthem.
Addressing the gathering, Saurabh Dalela, Director, ICAT, emphasised the importance of strengthening India’s technological capabilities and promoting indigenous R&D. He said that achieving the vision of a developed and self-reliant India would require sustained progress in cutting-edge technologies, innovation and home-grown research.
Dalela stressed that self-reliance in the automotive and mobility sector goes beyond manufacturing. He said developing indigenous capabilities in advanced technology development, testing, validation and certification is equally important.
He called upon ICAT’s engineers and technical experts to accelerate R&D activities and contribute towards developing world-class technological capabilities in India.
He further highlighted R&D, innovation and indigenous technology development as key pillars for establishing India as a strong technological power in the global automotive and mobility sector.
ICAT is contributing to India’s technological self-reliance through testing, certification, research and technical services in areas including safe, clean, connected, electrified and future mobility technologies.
Former Army Officer Highlights Discipline and Service to Nation
During the programme, Col. Sudhir Chaudhary, HR Head, ICAT, also addressed the gathering and inspired officers and employees with insights into India’s history, culture and achievements.
Drawing on his experience of serving in the Indian Army, Col. Chaudhary highlighted the importance of discipline, leadership, dedication to duty and service to the nation. His address reinforced the spirit of patriotism and a sense of responsibility among the participants.
ICAT Launches Annual Sports Competition ‘I-Khel’
The Independence Day programme also marked the launch of ‘I-Khel’, ICAT’s annual sports competition for employees.
The initiative is organised every year, beginning with an oath ceremony on August 15 and culminating in an awards ceremony on January 26. It aims to promote sportsmanship, teamwork, healthy competition and camaraderie among ICAT employees.
As a mark of their enthusiasm and support for the initiative, ICAT officers and employees also took a pledge to uphold sportsmanship, discipline and healthy competition.
The programme concluded with ICAT officers and employees reaffirming their commitment to contributing to India’s progress, strengthening technological self-reliance, and advancing the vision of Viksit Bharat@2047.
