New Delhi/Kathmandu: Indian Army Chief General Dhiraj Seth is scheduled to visit Nepal on August 16, according to a report by The Kathmandu Post.
During the visit, General Seth is expected to be conferred with the honorary rank of General of the Nepali Army by the President of Nepal, in keeping with the long-standing tradition of reciprocal honorary military appointments between the armies of India and Nepal.
The ceremonial honour reflects the close and enduring defence ties between the two neighbouring countries. The tradition of conferring the honorary rank of General on each other’s Army Chiefs has been an important symbol of the strong military partnership and mutual trust shared by India and Nepal for decades.
General Seth’s visit is also expected to provide an opportunity for discussions on bilateral defence cooperation, military exchanges, and other issues of mutual interest aimed at further strengthening the strategic partnership between the two countries.
