New Delhi: Delhi Lieutenant Governor Taranjit Singh Sandhu chaired a high-level review meeting with the Commissioner of Police, Delhi, and senior Delhi Traffic Police officials to assess traffic management and enforcement across the national capital. The review focused on preparedness for the ongoing monsoon season, Kanwar Yatra, and Independence Day arrangements.
During the meeting, officials reported a significant improvement in managing waterlogging, with the number of waterlogging hotspots reduced to 65 this season from 169 during the corresponding period last year. The Lieutenant Governor also
reviewed the progress of Project Sangam, noting that increased citizen participation has strengthened local traffic management efforts.
Traffic enforcement has also been intensified across the city. Officials informed the Lieutenant Governor that action against wrong-side driving has increased by 113 per cent, 2,321 FIRs have been registered for traffic-related violations, and stricter enforcement is being carried out against unauthorised parking to ensure smoother traffic movement.
Emphasising the importance of road safety and efficient traffic regulation, Lieutenant Governor Taranjit Singh Sandhu said that visible policing and active community participation are essential for addressing congestion, traffic violations, and encroachments.
He reiterated that safe, disciplined, and seamless mobility has a direct impact on the quality of life of Delhi’s residents, and asserted that there would be zero compromise in ensuring effective traffic management across the national capital.
