Kolkata : The West Bengal Pradesh Congress Committee (WBPCC), led by its President Subhankar Sarkar, organized a massive march through the streets of Kolkata on Thursday, culminating in a Satyagraha outside the Kolkata Police Headquarters at Lalbazar.

The protest was also attended by AICC In-charge for West Bengal, Prakash Joshi, along with thousands of Congress workers.

The Congress said the Satyagraha was organized to protest three key issues:

  • The alleged attack on Congress workers during the party’s July 21 rally in Kolkata.
  • The alleged filing of false cases against youth demanding the resignation of Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan.
  • The eviction of hawkers and the use of bulldozers during anti-encroachment drives.

Congress leaders accused the authorities of suppressing democratic protests and demanded action on the issues raised during the demonstration.
