DLSA Gurugram Organises Legal Awareness Camp on POCSO Act at Rotary Public School

Gurugram: Under the guidance of Narender Sura, District and Sessions Judge and Chairman, District Legal Services Authority (DLSA), Gurugram, the District Legal Services Authority, Gurugram organised a Legal Awareness Camp on the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act at Rotary Public School, Sector-22, Gurugram.

Addressing the students, Nisha, Secretary, DLSA Gurugram and Chief Judicial Magistrate (CJM), explained the key provisions of the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act, 2012. She said the legislation was enacted to protect children from sexual offences and to ensure a safe, sensitive and child-friendly justice delivery system for victims.

She urged students to immediately inform their parents, teachers or any trusted person if they experience or become aware of any inappropriate behaviour, stressing that such incidents should be reported without fear.

During the programme, DLSA Panel Advocate Neha Chaudhary also briefed students on the important provisions of the POCSO Act, children’s rights and personal safety. She highlighted the importance of cyber safety, awareness about good touch and bad touch, and reporting any offence to the concerned authorities without hesitation.

The interactive session witnessed enthusiastic participation from students, who raised several questions on the POCSO Act, child rights, cyber security and legal issues concerning adolescents. The speakers addressed their queries through practical examples and real-life situations, explaining the legal provisions in simple and easy-to-understand language. Students actively participated throughout the programme and showed keen interest in learning about their legal rights and personal safety.
