New Delhi : Indian Railways has flagged off a consignment of 100 electric cars transported in New Modified Goods (NMG) wagons from Tuticorin, Tamil Nadu, to Ballabgarh, Haryana, highlighting rail as a reliable, efficient and sustainable mode of automobile transportation.
The movement of the electric vehicles demonstrates the growing role of Indian Railways in supporting the country’s automobile logistics sector by offering an environmentally friendly and cost-effective alternative to road transport.
According to the Railways, the initiative showcases the efficiency of NMG wagons, which are specially designed for transporting automobiles safely over long distances while reducing logistics costs and carbon emissions.
The transportation of electric vehicles by rail is expected to further strengthen sustainable freight movement and support India’s transition towards greener mobility solutions.
