New Delhi : Addressing a press conference, BJP National Spokesperson Dr. Sambit Patra rejected allegations surrounding the ‘Sansad Chalo’ (Parliament March) protest held in Delhi on July 20, asserting that no firing took place during the agitation.
Patra said the Bharatiya Janata Party had made its position clear both from the party platform and inside Parliament, and reiterated that no shots were fired during the protest.
He accused Congress leader Rahul Gandhi of creating a false narrative and alleged that he was using children for political purposes.
“Children are the future of our country and they bear no fault. They should not be used for politics,” Patra said.
Addressing the protesting students, Patra said they should not be afraid, adding that the Prime Minister and the government stand with them. He said the BJP’s objective was to expose what he described as the Opposition’s “false narrative.”
The BJP spokesperson also questioned Rahul Gandhi’s approach, asking why he was “selective” in interacting with protesting students.
Referring to protests in Jharkhand, Patra said Rahul Gandhi should also meet the children protesting there and understand their concerns, alleging that he was avoiding Jharkhand because it has a Congress-supported government.
Responding to Rahul Gandhi’s criticism of Union Home Minister Amit Shah, Patra said Amit Shah regularly attends Parliament and questioned why the Opposition was not allowing the House to function.
He alleged that the Opposition was disrupting parliamentary proceedings instead of allowing discussions on important issues and accused it of spreading misleading narratives.
