New Delhi, August 4: Haryana Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini on Tuesday launched a sharp attack on the Congress, accusing the party of pursuing vote bank politics while neglecting the interests of youth, Scheduled Castes, and backward communities. He also questioned both the Congress and the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) over alleged irregularities in recruitment examinations in Punjab and reaffirmed the Haryana Government’s commitment to transparent recruitment and zero tolerance towards corruption.
Addressing mediapersons at Haryana Niwas in New Delhi, the Chief Minister alleged that the Congress had historically exploited weaker sections of society for political gains. Referring to former Punjab Chief Minister Charanjit Singh Channi, Saini claimed that despite standing by the Punjab Congress during difficult times, Channi was now being sidelined by the party, calling it an insult to the Dalit community.
Centre Took Strong Action Against Paper Leaks
Speaking on the NEET paper leak issue, Saini said the Central Government, under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, had taken the matter seriously by introducing stringent laws, ensuring strict action against those involved, and making recruitment processes more transparent.
He said the Prime Minister had made it clear that anyone attempting to jeopardise the future of the country’s youth would not be spared, adding that safeguarding the aspirations of young people remains one of the government’s highest priorities.
Questions Congress’ Record on Recruitment
The Chief Minister alleged that previous Congress governments lacked transparency in recruitment processes and failed to address incidents of paper leaks effectively.
He claimed that the present generation may not have witnessed the conditions prevailing during Congress rule, when recruitment systems were allegedly plagued by irregularities and candidates faced hardships even while appearing for examinations.
Saini also criticised what he described as a “Bharti Roko Gang” (Recruitment Obstruction Group), alleging that certain elements were attempting to delay or obstruct transparent and merit-based recruitment in Haryana. He asserted that the government would not allow such attempts to succeed.
Raises Questions on Punjab Recruitment Exams
Responding to a question regarding a resolution passed in the Punjab Assembly over paper leak issues, Saini questioned whether the Punjab Government had passed a similar resolution over the alleged pharmacy examination paper leak in the state.
He also referred to recent recruitment examination results in Punjab, alleging irregularities and demanding answers from both the Congress and the Aam Aadmi Party on issues affecting the state’s youth.
The Chief Minister further recalled an earlier statement by AAP leader Manish Sisodia, who had reportedly said that the Punjab Education Minister would resign if any paper leak occurred in the state. Saini alleged that the silence of AAP leaders on recent developments exposed the gap between their promises and actions.
Commonwealth Games Medal Winners to Be Honoured
The Chief Minister announced that the Haryana Government would soon organise a felicitation ceremony to honour athletes who won medals at the Commonwealth Games 2026.
Congratulating the medal winners, their parents, and coaches, Saini said Haryana’s sports policy has played a key role in producing top-performing athletes. He noted that the state currently operates more than 2,000 sports nurseries, where young talent is being nurtured from the grassroots level.
Zero Tolerance Towards Corruption
Reiterating the government’s anti-corruption stance, the Chief Minister said Haryana follows a zero-tolerance policy against corruption.
He stated that any officer or employee found involved in corruption would not be posted in the same district or on the same post after action is taken. The government, he added, would continue to act firmly and without discrimination against corrupt officials.
Saini said the Haryana Government remains committed to transparent governance, merit-based recruitment, youth welfare, and strengthening public confidence in the state’s administrative system.
