New Delhi: The Union Cabinet, chaired by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, on Friday approved the continuation of the Pradhan Mantri Kisan Samman Nidhi (PM-KISAN) Scheme for another five years, from 2026–27 to 2030–31, reaffirming the Government’s commitment to providing direct income support to farmers across the country.

Announcing the Cabinet decision, Union Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw said the extension of the flagship scheme will ensure the continued delivery of timely and transparent financial assistance to eligible farmer families through the Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT) mechanism.

The Minister said the PM-KISAN scheme has become one of the Government’s key initiatives for supporting the agricultural sector by transferring financial assistance directly into the bank accounts of eligible beneficiaries, thereby ensuring transparency, efficiency, and eliminating intermediaries.

Under the scheme, eligible farmer families receive income support through the DBT system, enabling them to meet agricultural and household expenses while strengthening their financial security.

The continuation of the scheme from 2026–27 to 2030–31 is expected to provide uninterrupted financial assistance to millions of farmers, helping them manage cultivation costs, improve farm productivity, and enhance their livelihoods.

According to the Government, the extension of PM-KISAN reflects its continued focus on farmer welfare, rural prosperity, and strengthening the agricultural sector through technology-enabled, transparent, and accountable service delivery.

The Cabinet’s decision ensures that eligible farmers will continue to receive direct income support under the Pradhan Mantri Kisan Samman Nidhi (PM-KISAN) scheme over the next five years, reinforcing the Government’s commitment to inclusive agricultural growth and the economic well-being of farming families.
