Chandigarh : Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) President and former Punjab Deputy Chief Minister Sukhbir Singh Badal met Punjab Governor Gulab Chand Kataria on Friday and submitted two separate memorandums concerning what he described as two of the most pressing issues facing the state.
Following the meeting, Badal said the first memorandum sought a Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) probe into the alleged AAP examination scam, claiming that multiple recruitment examination irregularities had adversely affected the future of lakhs of young aspirants in Punjab.
According to Badal, the memorandum alleges that more than 10 examination scams have taken place, leaving over 10 lakh Punjabi youth in uncertainty regarding their employment prospects. He urged that a CBI investigation be ordered to establish accountability and bring those responsible to justice.
“We have sought a CBI probe into the AAP Exam Scam to fix accountability and punish the guilty for more than 10 exam scams that have left over 10 lakh Punjabi youth in the lurch,” Badal said.
The second memorandum sought a high-level judicial inquiry into the alleged police action against sanitation workers in Barnala.
Badal alleged that sanitation workers were subjected to a brutal police assault during the incident and demanded an independent judicial investigation to ascertain the facts, identify those responsible, and ensure accountability.
The Shiromani Akali Dal leader urged the Governor to take appropriate action on both issues, stating that an impartial investigation was necessary to uphold justice and restore public confidence.
