New Delhi/Washington: Sergio Gor, the U.S. Ambassador to India and Special Envoy to South and Central Asia, announced that the United States has downgraded its overall travel advisory for Bangladesh from Level 3 to Level 2, citing improved security conditions in the country.
In a statement, Gor said he informed Bangladesh Foreign Minister Khalilur Rahman that the U.S. Department of State had reviewed the prevailing conditions on the ground and determined that Bangladesh is now safer for travel.
While announcing the revised advisory, he noted that although the overall travel advisory has been lowered to Level 2, certain areas continue to have additional restrictions and should be avoided.
Describing the development as “great news,” Gor said the decision reflects the improving security environment in Bangladesh and is expected to boost confidence among international travellers while strengthening people-to-people exchanges and business travel.
