New Delhi: A delegation from Bastar Mandal, comprising winners of Bastar Pandum 2026, Pargana Manjhi, Chalaki of Bastar, and Padma Awardees, called on President Droupadi Murmu at the Rashtrapati Bhavan Cultural Centre on Thursday.
The President felicitated the members of the delegation and interacted with them. The event was attended by Union Minister for Home Affairs and Cooperation Amit Shah, Chief Minister of Chhattisgarh Vishnu Deo Sai, along with other dignitaries.
Addressing the gathering, President Murmu said that cultural events such as Bastar Pandum have played a significant role in reconnecting the younger generation with their traditions, customs and rich cultural heritage. She noted that such initiatives also promote tourism and generate employment opportunities, contributing to the socio-economic development of the region.
The President described the transformation taking place in Bastar as a matter of joy and pride for the entire nation. Expressing confidence in the people of Chhattisgarh, she said they would achieve new milestones of development, peace and prosperity through their collective strength, determination and hard work.
Reaffirming the Centre’s commitment to the state, President Murmu assured the people of Chhattisgarh that the government would continue to stand by them in every situation and support their journey towards inclusive growth and progress.
