New Delhi: Union Minister Piyush Goyal announced that the first-ever air shipment of Neelam and Totapuri mangoes from Karnataka has been exported to the Maldives, marking a significant milestone for India’s agricultural exports.
The Minister lauded the Agricultural and Processed Food Products Export Development Authority (APEDA) for facilitating the landmark shipment, saying it opens new opportunities for Karnataka’s mango growers to expand their presence in international markets.
According to Goyal, the initiative is expected to encourage greater participation from Farmer Producer Organizations (FPOs), exporters and agri-entrepreneurs, enabling them to tap into overseas demand and strengthen India’s agricultural export ecosystem.
The export of Karnataka’s premium mango varieties to the Maldives is seen as an important step towards enhancing market access for Indian horticultural produce and creating new income opportunities for farmers.
