New Delhi : Union Health Minister J.P. Nadda on Saturday inaugurated the Laghu Udyog Bharati Pharma Conclave 2026 in New Delhi, highlighting the pharmaceutical sector’s critical role in India’s journey towards the vision of Viksit Bharat 2047.
Addressing the gathering, the minister said the pharmaceutical industry has become a key pillar of nation-building by driving innovation, generating employment, ensuring affordable healthcare, and enhancing India’s global standing in the healthcare sector.
He noted that under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, India has emerged as the world’s largest supplier of generic medicines, one of the leading producers of vaccines, and a trusted exporter of pharmaceutical products to more than 200 countries.
Emphasising the sector’s growing global significance, the Health Minister called for continued efforts to strengthen India’s pharmaceutical ecosystem and reaffirm its position as the world’s trusted “Pharmacy of the World.”
