President Droupadi Murmu Meets Romanian Parliamentary Leaders, Calls for Stronger India–Romania Parliamentary Cooperation

New Delhi /Bucharest, Romania: President Droupadi Murmu held high-level meetings with the top parliamentary leadership of Romania during her visit to the country, reaffirming India’s commitment to further strengthening bilateral ties through greater institutional cooperation.

President Murmu met President of the Senate of Romania H.E. Mr. Mircea Abrudean and President of the Chamber of Deputies of Romania H.E. Mr. Sorin Grindeanu at the Parliament Palace in Bucharest.

During the visit, the President also interacted with members of the India–Romania Parliamentary Friendship Group. Minister of State for Consumer Affairs, Food & Public Distribution Smt. Nimuben Jayantibhai Bambhaniya, along with Members of Parliament Dr. Dinesh Sharma and Shri Vijay Baghel, were also present on the occasion.

Highlighting the importance of parliamentary exchanges between the two nations, President Murmu said that as vibrant parliamentary democracies, India and Romania should further deepen engagement between their legislative institutions.

She emphasised that regular interactions between parliamentarians would provide valuable opportunities to share experiences, exchange best practices, and enhance mutual understanding, thereby contributing to the further strengthening of the India–Romania partnership.

The meeting reflected the growing cooperation between the two countries across diplomatic, political, and institutional platforms.
