New Delhi: The Cockroach Janta Party (CJP) has announced that its peaceful protest at Jantar Mantar will continue despite activist Sonam Wangchuk ending his 26-day hunger strike. The party said it welcomed Wangchuk’s decision to conclude the fast but maintained that its agitation would persist until Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan resigns.
Responding to Wangchuk’s decision, Abhijit Dipke, a representative of the CJP, expressed gratitude for the activist’s sacrifice and described his hunger strike as a powerful moral appeal that resonated across the country.
“We are relieved and grateful that Sonam Sir has ended his hunger strike after 26 days. Thank you, sir, for your extraordinary courage and sacrifice. By putting your own life on the line, you awakened the conscience of an entire nation. Your life is far too precious to this country,” Dipke said.
The party stated that while Wangchuk’s decision to end the fast marked an important moment in the ongoing movement, it did not alter the CJP’s position regarding its demands. According to the party, its members and supporters will continue their peaceful demonstration at Jantar Mantar until Dharmendra Pradhan steps down as Union Education Minister.
The CJP reiterated that its protest will remain peaceful and democratic, asserting that it will continue to raise its demands through constitutional means while seeking accountability from the government over issues concerning the education sector.
