New Delhi : Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan chaired the first day of the two-day Conclave of State and Union Territory Education Ministers, convened to review the implementation and progress of the Centrally Sponsored Schemes under the Department of School Education and Literacy.
The conclave brought together Education Ministers and senior officials from across States and Union Territories to assess the performance of major school education initiatives and discuss strategies for improving learning outcomes, strengthening educational infrastructure, and accelerating the implementation of the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020.
During the meeting, Dharmendra Pradhan highlighted the achievements of several flagship programmes, including Samagra Shiksha, PM SHRI Schools, NIPUN Bharat, PM POSHAN, and ULLAS (Understanding Lifelong Learning for All in Society). He said these initiatives have played a significant role in expanding access to quality education, improving learning standards, and promoting inclusive development across the country.
The Education Minister called upon States and Union Territories to work in close coordination with the Centre to further strengthen foundational literacy and numeracy, a key objective of the National Education Policy.

He emphasized the importance of equipping teachers with modern skills, encouraging innovation in classrooms, and adopting technology and Artificial Intelligence (AI) to make education more effective, accessible, and future-ready.
Pradhan also stressed the need to ensure the holistic development of every learner, focusing not only on academic excellence but also on skill development, critical thinking, creativity, and overall personality growth. He urged all stakeholders to continue working collaboratively to build a robust, inclusive, and globally competitive education system aligned with the vision of NEP 2020.
The two-day conclave is expected to deliberate on policy implementation, best practices, and measures to further improve the quality of school education across the country.
