New Delhi : Myanmar has assured India that its territory will not be permitted to be used in any manner that could undermine New Delhi’s security interests, while both countries have agreed to further strengthen intelligence sharing and operational coordination to address common security challenges.
According to an official government statement, the commitment was made during the 23rd National Level Bilateral Meeting between India and Myanmar, which concluded on Wednesday after a two-day high-level dialogue.
The Indian delegation was led by Union Home Secretary Govind Mohan, who held discussions with Myanmar’s representatives on a range of security-related issues.
During the meeting, both sides reviewed existing cooperation mechanisms and emphasised the need for closer coordination to tackle emerging security threats, including cross-border challenges and transnational crimes.
Myanmar reaffirmed that its territory would not be allowed to become a base for activities that could affect India’s national security interests.
The two countries also agreed to improve the exchange of intelligence inputs, strengthen field-level coordination, and work together to ensure peace, stability, and security along their shared areas of concern.
The meeting reflects the continued efforts by India and Myanmar to deepen bilateral security cooperation and address mutual challenges through dialogue and coordinated action.
