New Delhi / Yakutsk (Russia) : In Yakutsk (याकुत्स्क ), a captivating performance of Indian Manipuri classical dance was presented by Guru Khumanthem Narmada Devi along with her team from the Narmada Cultural Organisation, during the celebrations of the Republic of Sakha (Yakutia) (याकुतिया )national festival Ysyakh.
The Sakha Republic (Yakutia) is the largest federal subject of Russia, covering over 3 million sq km in the Russian Far East and Siberia. It is famous for its extreme, subarctic climate, rich mineral resources (diamonds, gold), and indigenous Turkic-speaking Yakut culture. The capital and largest city is Yakutsk.
The performance highlighted the rich cultural heritage of India and drew appreciation from audiences attending the traditional festival, which is one of the most significant cultural events in the region.
Following the performance, Guru Khumanthem Narmada Devi and her troupe also conducted a masterclass session, offering participants an opportunity to learn and engage with the intricate movements and expressions of Manipuri dance.
The event served as a meaningful cultural exchange, further strengthening people-to-people ties and showcasing India’s soft power through classical art forms on an international stage.
